Community Outreach

Last month we participated in the Palm Desert Chamber of Commerce Business EXPO held at the Fantasy Springs Casino, where our Always Best Care Bear had the opportunity to meet Red Robin – they seemed to enjoy each other’s company as they learned about each other’s business. This was a great forum to meet face-to-face with many fellow businesses and customers. We were joined by over 140 exhibitors and 2500 attendees.

Also, for those of you who attended the Palm Desert Golf Parade last month, did you see Always Best Care Bear in the parade? He was the one accompanying the Xavier College Preparatory High School students since Always Best Care Senior Services proudly sponsored the school’s participation. The students did an awesome job!

One of the many events we are involved this month is with the Joslyn Senior Center – “Enriching Lives Every Day.”

As part of our community outreach, a Gift Just for You - As the hustle & bustle of the Holiday Season begins, we would like to extend to you a gift of two free hours of in-home non-medical care to help during the holidays: Please refer to Gift Certificate for details.

Please feel free to contact me directly for any more information on our upcoming events.

Hello, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the new Care Coordinator of Always Best Care Senior Services. My name is Theresa Douglas and I recently moved here to the desert from Kentucky to be closer to family. I have ten years experience working in senior services and it is a passion of mine to be able to help families in their time of need. I have also been a caregiver myself, working with clients with all needs, from Alzheimer’s, dementia, stroke, Parkinson’s, and those that just want or need companionship. This hands on experience helps me train, direct and choose the best matched caregivers for our clients. Being a Care Coordinator can sometimes be a challenge; keeping each client’s needs fulfilled and knowing that most times care is not always something we plan on, it can be a last minute situation that no one is prepared for. Always Best Care will always be there to help. We can be reached 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Each caregiver is a valuable part of the service we provide to our clients. We want each caregiver to have the best possible experience they can. We offer continuing education classes to our caregivers that range from Virtual Alzheimer’s training to Caregiver Stress Management and more. I want each caregiver to know that we are always here and want to make every day with our clients a great experience.

Always Best Care Senior Services is proud to announce Elena Martinez as the November Employee of the Month. Elena started with Always Best Care in February 2011, and has since captured the hearts of many of our clients. Elena cares for her clients as she would her own family. She has a great attitude and can always make her clients smile and have fun, no matter what the circumstance. Elena’s care for her clients ranges from Alzheimer’s care that needs hands on assistance to accompanying a client on his weekly visit to the Casino to play the slots. Elena is always happy and upbeat, and continuously helps make each client’s day a little brighter. We are so happy to have Elena as part of our team! Congratulations Elena!

So……you’re noticing my picture looks a bit different this month? Well, it’s still the same old (oh dear) me in a glamour shot. I figured why not have some fun with it….YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE!

I’m reminded of this fact as I navigate my way through the day helping families caught in the tragic web of Alzheimer’s and dementia….guiding them through the difficult transition from total care giving, to placement.

Spouses have become totally exhausted and can no longer handle the 24/7 care that is required. They must now give in to their sheer exhaustion and deteriorating health. No need for guilt….they’ve given it their all.

I guide them through the process of finding a safe and compassionate community where the special care provides peace of mind for the caregiver and comfort for their loved one. It’s been a long day but I sleep well knowing I’ve been a shoulder to lean on in their time of need. And the payoff….a call from the family saying “thank you so much Bonnie, why didn’t I know about you before? I’m telling all my friends about you.”

We’re always there…..Always Best Care!
